Philippa Fee will present on the scope of general liabilities policies, commonly available in the New Zealand market.  In particular she will look at commonly found factual scenarios which will focus on:

(a) The meaning of ‘property damage’, as that phrase is used in the main insuring clause?
(b) What kinds of loss are not covered the policy?  In particular, what is the scope of the defective workmanship and insured’s product exclusions?
(c) What cover do common extensions to the policy, such as defective workmanship and recall of products extensions, provide?
(d) What is the relationship between general liability and professional indemnity policies?”
