IAG telematics acquisition
04 Apr 2017
IAG has announced that it has acquired Christchurch-based fleet efficiency and safe driver coaching business CCS Innovation in Logistics.
The acquisition is designed to help commercial fleet clients via the insurer’s Fleet Fit proposition.
CCS has been a partner of NZI for 11 years as a supplier of safe driver training and through the insurer’s Drive Smart campaign for heavy motor customers.
The newly-purchased telematics firm will be managed as a stand-alone entity. Founder Corinne Watson, who started the business in 2005, will remain as general manager.
“CCS’s approach to leveraging truck telematics for safe driver coaching aligns very much with our own purpose and this, along with CCS Innovation in Logistics’ strengths in benchmarking and reporting across fleets, suggests some expanding opportunities that we look forward to unlocking for a wider base of customers,” Travis Atkinson, NZI executive general manager said of the deal.
NZI has previously worked to improve safety in heavy motor classes using technology.
In 2016, the firm announced a partnership with Seeing Machines in a bid to help curb driver fatigue.
