This webinar will focus on the operation of section 9 of the Law Reform Act 1936, and how it operates to place a ‘charge’ on insurance moneys which are payable as indemnity for liability to pay damages and compensation. 

This webinar will focus on the practical implications of section 9 of the Law Reform Act 1936.  In particular we will focus on: 

• An overview of section 9 of the Law Reform Act 1936 in New Zealand;
• Whether section 9 operates to place a statutory charge over defence costs; 
• What occurs when there are competing charges over the same insurance monies; and
