• Providing a ‘back to basics’ overview of the cover provided by Statutory Liability Policies in the New Zealand market, including what to look out for in a policy, and what sort of ‘Events’ will trigger cover under a policy;
• Setting out some of the most important things that brokers can do to help insureds (and defence counsel) once cover has been triggered under the Statutory Liability policy; and
• Providing claims scenarios of how Statutory Liability policies have helped insureds faced with investigations or prosecutions by regulators such as WorkSafe, the Commerce Commission, local Councils for Resource Management offences, or proceedings in the Human Rights Tribunal.
