The contracts of Insurance Act Nov 2024 is a major change that will affect insurers and their brokers. Insurers will need to make changes to the way in which they offer policies, presenting policies clearly so that consumers can understand them and asking the right questions of consumers, rather than leaving it to consumers to know what to tell insurers.
The Act replaces the common law principle of non-disclosure for consumers and draws a distinction between consumers and non-consumers. It also requires insurers to respond proportionately when consumers fail to disclose something.
