The Fair Insurance Code is a code of conduct developed by Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ), which sets out the standard of service member companies must provide to their customers. These Code obligations are in addition to those imposed by the law.
Independent dispute resolution schemes, such as the IFSO Scheme, apply the Code in practice. Using examples from recent IFSO Scheme case studies, Senior Solicitor, Claire Benjamin will discuss what amounts to breaches and significant breaches of the Fair Insurance Code.
By the end of this session, you will have gained a deeper understanding the responsibilities that your clients and the insurer have to each other under the Code and, can will be better equipped to raise an issue with an insurer regarding a possible breach of the Code.
